Created in 2023 on the wall of an apartment building on Hornsey Road in London\u2019s Finsbury Park, Green Washing is a striking critique of environmental issues and the concept of \u201cgreen washing.\u201d

The artwork utilizes the pruned branches of a real tree; on the wall behind the tree, green paint mimics the appearance of leaves, making the tree appear leafy. A stencil figure of a child is depicted on the wall, holding a paint sprayer and applying green paint toward the tree.

Banksy uses this piece to address the destruction of nature and the superficiality of eco-friendly appearances, inviting viewers to reflect on environmental negligence and hypocrisy.

The pruned tree symbolizes nature\u2019s destruction and exposure at the hands of humanity, while the green-painted leaves allude to \u201cgreen washing\u201d policies that falsely compensate for nature\u2019s loss.

Banksy questions the insincerity of companies and authorities despite growing environmental awareness.
